The Client
The customer is a US-based company engaged in the manufacturing of network-related
components.
Executive Summary
The project carried out by Caarma for the customer provided enhancements to an Oracle -
based enterprise solution
Business Need
To complete a full life cycle implementation project whose goal was to replace out-dated
legacy systems with Oracle 11i Applications Suite including Inventory, Order Management
and Shipping Execution modules for over 680 service organizations worldwide.
The Solution
Caarma, as part of its implementation services, helped create the architecture,
design/application set-up and mapped the organization’s business processes. The presence
of “workflow” in all modules made this the key component to derive the maximum of an
Oracle 11i implementation. The Caarma team helped configure the entire set-up and roll-out
of the application, and also do the required data migration from legacy to Oracle
Applications. Caarma followed the Oracle standard methodology like Fast Forward and
Application Implementation Methodology (AIM) to suit the client’s implementation
requirements. Caarma also tailored the standard methodologies to meet specific organizational
needs. We also followed Oracle Project Management (PJM), a process-based methodology
for managing Oracle 11i implementation projects.
Because the client was an existing user of Oracle Applications 10.7 and 11, the Caarma team
helped migrate to Oracle Application version 11i. The key focus was on leveraging enhanced
functionality of 11i – whether it was core module functionality, workflow, reports or views.
As part of the application’s migration services, it also offered customized forms migration
(Oracle Forms 4.5-based releases of Oracle Applications 10SC, 10.7, NCA, 11), reports
migration, migration of customized workflow, data migration services and migration to
Oracle 9i Application Server.
Our customization services helped satisfy the needs not supported by Oracle’s out-of-box
functionality. It offers customized application development on Oracle eBusiness Suite,
including changing forms (appearance, validation logic and behavior), changing reports or
programs (appearance and logic), database customizations (adding read-only schemas and
augmenting logic with database triggers), changes to the workflow process, web
development around Oracle eBusiness suite using Oracle Forms and Reports, Oracle Portal
Server, portal, personalization, content management, integration, email, wireless and Oracle
Procurement.
We deliver cost effective 24 x 7-application support, maintenance and database
administration performance tuning. We offer support for applications built using Oracle, DB
administration, atabase, network and OS tuning, back-up and recovery methodology definition, user and security administration, application administration, general policy and
procedure definition, production deployment, documentation and post-production support.
